Old Town of Rouen - Travel in Seine Maritime
I invite you to come and discover the superb department of the Seine Maritime and more particularly its prefecture, the city of Rouen. The Seine Maritime is bordered to the west by the Channel and is crossed by the Seine. Rouen has also developed along the seine on both sides of the two banks. The historic center is located on the right bank. It is unique and superb.
Jeanne d'Arc square in Rouen
At the end of rue du Gros Horloge you will discover the old market place. It is bordered by half-timbered facades. In fact, the houses were rebuilt and the old facades fixed on them. At its center is the church of Saint Joan of Arc. Frankly, his style is particular. For my part, I find that its architecture distorts the places. But OK. The square is lined with cafes.
Picture of a city of Normandy
Normandy is a beautiful French region. Located in the north west of France at 2 hours from Paris, the region has a real historical and architectural richness. Villages like Lyons la Forêt, Etretat and Fecamp are superb. The Norman towns are also worth visiting. This is the case of Rouen with its historical quarter, half-timbered houses and beautiful squares.

On the right bank of Rouen stretches the beautiful historic center. The whole of the historical monuments are grouped together: the abbey Saint Ouen (attention is closed between 12h and 14h), the cathedral Notre Dame characteristic of Gothic art, the place of the old market and its church Joan of Arc. You will take old streets composed of half-timbered houses all colored. (© Photos by E. Buchot)
