The beautiful city of Rouen in Normandy
Located in Normandy in the department of Seine Maritime, the city of Rouen is a marvel. You will discover, as shown in the picture below, beautiful half-timbered houses, a unique historical center composed of old houses, cobbled streets and, in some districts, a village atmosphere.
Photo of a traditional street in the center of Rouen
At the entrance of the historical center of Rouen, near the abbey church of Saint Ouen you will discover a really charming street: Eau de Robec street. It is bordered by tall, half-timbered houses. The whole has been restored recently. The morning light bathes the traditional buildings. I invite you to visit this street early on a Sunday morning. The first inhabitants go out to get the bread. Beautiful.

The entrance of the houses of the historical center of Rouen is superb. The architectural style reminds us of the Middle Ages. Wooden doors, worked, colored. Leaning houses. I suggest you to discover the old town of Rouen. It is full of traditional houses. The whole is pedestrian and allows both tourists and locals to enjoy this beautiful city.
Half-timbered house in Rouen
The old town of Rouen is one of the few cities in France to possess such a rich architectural diversity. Old buildings date from the 13th century, others from the Renaissance. The Gothic style is flamboyant. Strongly destroyed during the Second World War (a photo exhibition in the cathedral shows the ravages of the war) Rouen was reconstructed identically. The half-timbered houses are today the witness. (© Photos by E. Buchot)
