Images of the citadel of Vauban with its ramparts and Saint Malo Intra Muros. You'll find the beaches of Saint Malo and Brittany, the rugged cliffs of the Brittany coast with photos from the tip of Grouin and colors, Cap d'Esterel and its verdant moors. Architecture is not forgotten with the beautiful medieval town of Dinan and its half-timbered houses.
Saint-Malo is a French commune located in Brittany, in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine, and the main port of the north coast of Brittany. The tourism sector is also very developed. The municipality of Saint-Malo is located in the north-east of Brittany, on the coast of the Channel and on the right bank of the estuary of the Rance. It is located 18 km north of Dinan, 75 km north of Rennes and 404 km from Paris.
Saint-Malo is the north-western part of Clos Poulet, a large peninsula bounded by the Rance, the Channel and the Châteauneuf depression. At the northeastern end of Clos-Poulet is Cancale, which closes Mont Saint-Michel Bay to the west. The Clos-Poulet coastline is part of the Emerald Coast, which extends from Cancale to Cape Fréhel.
The neighboring municipalities of Saint-Malo are, to the north-east, Saint-Coulomb, to the east, Saint-Méloir-des-Ondes, to the south-east and south, Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets, to the south- west and west, on the left bank of the Rance, Dinard, La Richardais and Pleurtuit. The original site of the Malouine agglomeration includes the rocky islets of the City (altitude 30 m), connected by the tombolo of Solidor in Saint-Servan where had settled the ancient Alet (of the ancient name Aleto reported by the Notitia Dignitatum or Notice of the Imperial Dignities, manuscript of the first quarter of the fifth century) and Canalchius - from the old Gallic Canalch (altitude 13.80) to the north - became over time the intramural Saint-Malo. © Imagens Emmanuel Buchot
