France is the world's leading tourist destination. And for good reason. Cities like Paris, Lyon, Toulouse, Strasbourg are superb. But if the traces of the history of France are very visible in our old cities, it is the same in our villages. An association "the most beautiful villages of France" created in the 80s chose to highlight the villages characteristic of France. To be labeled "the most beautiful village in France, several criteria must be fulfilled, including architectural, urban and environmental aspects. For having visited several of these villages, I confirm that each time, they are small wonders. These are not museum villages.
They have a soul, atmosphere and a special atmosphere. I propose in the articles that follow a selection of villages to discover. Geographically, most visits are grouped in the south of France. You will find some in the north, but in a more limited number. I invite you in the photos that follow to discover these beautiful villages of France: Lyons la Forêt, Giverny, Yevre le Chatel. © Photos by Emmanuel Buchot
